On June 12, 2009 FASB issued FAS 166 and FAS 167 on securitizations and special purpose entities (SPEs), amending FAS 140 and FIN 46R.

FASB Votes To Retain 2010 Effective Date On Securitization, Asset Transfer Rules
At its May 18, 2009 board meeting FASB voted to retain the effective date as originally proposed in its upcoming upcoming amendments to FAS 140, Transfers of Assets, and FIN 46R, Consolidation of Variable Interest Entities, for fiscal years beginning after Nov. 15, 2009. Thus, for calendar year companies, the new standards will be effective at the beginning of 2010.
