On June 4, 2007, the IRS issued Notice 2007-49, which changes the group of executive oficers who are considered covered employees for purposes of Section 162(m) of the Internal Revenue Code. On Aug. 3, 2006, the U.S. Senate passed the Pension Protection Act (PPA) of 2006 by a vote of 93 to 5, as noted in this press release issued by Sen. Charles Grassley, Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. The bill, passed by the U.S. House of Representatives on July 28, awaits President Bush’s signature, and he is expected to sign it into law.
