Robert P. Wayman has applied his considerable skills and expertise in the technology sector to a series of key senior-level management positions with the Hewlett-Packard Co. for nearly four decades.
In January 2007, Wayman retired from his position as HP’s chief financial officer, a position he had held since 1984, and as HP’s executive vice president of Finance and Administration, his role since 1992. As CFO, he was responsible for the company's overall financial activities and led the controller, treasury, tax and real estate departments, among others.
Wayman joined the company in 1969 as a cost accountant and held several accounting management positions there early in his career. Prior to his being named CFO, he served as deputy corporate controller and then controller. He also served briefly as HP’s CEO in early 2005.
In February 2005, Wayman was appointed to the company’s board of directors for a second time, having served as a director previously from December 1993 through May 2002. His board service, in addition to his HP governance roles, has been extensive.
In addition, he was a member of the board of directors of Con-way Inc., a provider of global supply chain services, through 2007, and Sybase Inc., an enterprise software and services company, until 2010 when the company was sold. He’s currently a director at Carefusion, a global provider of products and services to the health care industry, and Affymetrix, Inc., a developer of tools to analyze complex genetic information.
Wayman is a member of the Advisory Board to Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management. He holds a bachelor's degree in science engineering and Master's degree in business administration from Northwestern University. Wayman serves on the board of the nonprofit V Foundation for Cancer Research. He has been a member of the FEI Silicon Valley Chapter.
