What recommendations do members have for scanning hardware and software? We are looking to start with HR documents and then move to Accounts Payable invoices and then keep all documents digitally.

We use Document Imaging Solutions, Inc (http://www.disusa.com/) for our scanning software solution which works well with our Ricoh Photocopiers/Multifunctions or Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 scanners.

We use Metafile Information Systems scanning and retrieval system. It is reasonably priced and has very good search capabilities. We use it for Accounts Payable invoice retrieval and Personnel file information. We also use it for system reports (cold reports) because of its search capabilities. We have been with them for over 10 years and have been very pleased with the system and support.

Regarding Scanning Systems, we are using a product called KnowledgeLake, a Microsoft based product using SharePoint, because I didn’t want a proprietary product. Have been using it for 4 years and continuously expanding our applications across all of our locations (4 states) but the application resides at corporate. Also using their prescribed scanners at some locations and scanners that we sell at others, then just transmitting the scanned files to corporate for indexing and processing.
