On May 23, 2008, the Committee On Private Companies, Policy Subcommittee joined several other organizations in sending a letter to several Senators to request cosponsorship of the S Corp Modernization Act. The bill will:
• Increase access to capital by reducing S corp ownership restrictions;
• Modernize the rules that apply to firms that have selected S corporation status;
• Encourage philanthropy by S corps through small business trusts.
