U.S. Firms Warming to IFRS
In a survey conducted in November of more than 200 finance professionals, 42 percent said the companies they represent, if permitted, would consider implementing International Financial Reporting Standards sooner than 2014, the initial mandatory date suggested in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Roadmap that awaits public comment in February.
The survey, by Deloitte shows an increased awareness of IFRS and conveyed that steps are being taken within organizations to begin preparing for IFRS: 65 percent of respondents said their companies have assigned resources to begin planning for IFRS or intend to assign such resources within the next year.
