Treasury Seeks Comment on Regulatory Reform

On Oct. 11, 2007, the U.S. Treasury Department released for public comment a set of questions on regulatory reform. The questions address regulatory structure, principles-based regulation and more. The comment deadline is November 21. See also Treasury's related press release.
Regulatory reform considerations are part of U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson's U.S. Capital Market's Competitiveness Initiative.
As previously reported, the first meeting of Treasury's Advisory Committee on the Audit Profession, co-chaired by former U.S. Securities and Exchange Commissioner Arthur Levitt Jr. and former SEC Chief Accountant Don Nicolaisen – another part of Paulson's Capital Market initiative – will take place on Oct. 15.
