FEI Applauds Bernanke Nomination To Serve Second Term As Federal Reserve Chair Aug. 26, 2009 FEI Summary
On Aug. 25, 2009, President Barack Obama nominated Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke to a second term. The appointment is subject to Senate confirmation. Read the White House transcript of the president's and Bernanke's remarks in announcing the nomination.
FEI issued the following statement on August 26:
“Financial Executives International (FEI) applauds the reappointment of Ben S. Bernanke, by President Barack Obama, to serve a second term as chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. We commend the Chairman for his creativity, tenacity and guidance of our economy through one of the most difficult and uncertain periods in our nation’s financial history. His leadership and insight over the past three years has impacted companies both large and small, including the 8,000 companies represented in FEI’s member base of more than 15,000 senior financial executives. We look forward to seeing Chairman Bernanke’s reappointment confirmed by the Senate, and working closely with the Federal Reserve and the rest of the administration in stimulating our U.S. businesses and restoring investor confidence and consumer demand.”
