advocacy & issues

Established in 1962, the Committee on Taxation (COT) is authorized to formulate Financial Executives International (FEI) statements and positions on matters pertaining to tax legislation, policies, practices, rules and regulations. COT addresses: economic and social implications of taxes, domestic and international; tax simplifications and administration, and tax and accounting relationships. The Committee communicates its positions to both the executive and legislative branches of the federal government.

The Committee has three Subcommittees: International Tax Subcommittee; Federal Subcommittee; and the Subcommittee on Tax Practices.

    Objectives:
  • To promptly identify, evaluate and communicate legislative and regulatory issues of interest to senior financial executives.
  • To represent the views and opinions of the FEI membership on issues pertaining to tax policy.
  • To provide a forum for peer interaction and discussion of tax issues.
  • To facilitate the FEI membership understanding of tax laws, regulation and administration and their dealing with tax authorities.
    Subcommittees:
  • Federal Tax Subcommittee
  • International Tax Subcommittee
