: editorial information
Financial Executive is the award winning publication of Financial Executives International (FEI). The magazine provides senior financial executives with financial, business and management news, trends and strategies to help them work better, faster and smarter.
The editors urge anyone really interested in writing for the magazine to look at our editorial calendar, pick a subject in your area of expertise and offer a well-thought-out pitch that you think works for our audience of senior corporate finance executives.
Features generally run from 1,400 to 2,200 words (2-3 pages), and cover stories are longer (4-6 pages). Opinion-type columns are shorter, from 750 to 1,200 words. All articles must be timely upon publication. Major articles should be suggested
three months in advance of publication, and be completed one month in advance. While we take telephone calls, we prefer email queries that include an outline or synopsis of the proposed article.
In general, we offer very limited opportunities for freelancers. About 60-65% of the feature edit in most issues is generated by outside consultants and other business experts (non-paid), with the rest filled by staff copy and a few freelance pieces.
Please allow a lead-time for submissions of 2-3 months, and send to Editor-in-Chief Ellen M. Heffes.
We encourage you to send your comments, and suggestions to the editor.
